Newborn Assistant Application

Kristen Calgaro Photography is now accepting applications for a part-time assistant for newborn photo sessions, to be hired on a job-by-job basis.  Must have experience handling newborns, either through working in childcare, your own children, or other experience.  Must have a calm and patient personality.  Must have reliable transportation.  This is NOT a full time position.  Each job will be approximately a 4 – 5 hour shift.  I currently photograph anywhere from 3 to 10 newborns a month depending on bookings.  This could be a great fit for someone who has a flexible schedule and who only desires a few hours a week.

Assistants must be willing to do whatever is necessary to ensure that a shoot runs smoothly and keep the newborn’s safety top priority. Some of the tasks involved are: packing & unpacking for in-home sessions, carrying equipment, setting up & tearing down sets, hands on assistance with posing the newborn and spotting for safety, as well as helping with cleaning & reorganizing after the shoot.

REQUIREMENTS:
Experience with newborns is required, whether personal or professional.  This is a position for someone with a calming personality, and a willingness to learn and take direction.  Assistants must be organized and practical, should be able to foresee potential problems, and should possess the ability to maintain a calm and pleasant demeanor even when dealing with the unexpected.  Assistants must be able and willing to contribute when miscellaneous needs arise such as cleaning, organizing, laundering props, running errands, etc.

Communication skills are a must.  Keen attention to detail is a huge plus.  Applicants do not need to be outgoing but must be capable of being friendly, curteous and polite.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift 30 pounds.  Must be able to stay on feet for 2 – 3 hours, sometimes longer.  Must be able to sit/lean for long periods of time.
